Click vinyl planks connect as a floating floor. The installer follows the manufacturer’s expansion and room-size requirements and checks that doorways and transitions have enough clearance. Glue-down vinyl bonds to the prepared subfloor, so surface flatness and cleanliness become critical. We recommend the method that fits the product, room and subfloor.

The $2.00 starting rate applies to standard installations. Removal, adhesive cleanup, floor levelling, stairs, patterns, trim and subfloor repairs can change the final labour price.

Old Flooring Removal and Subfloor Preparation

We can remove carpet, old laminate, vinyl and other flooring as part of the project. After removal, the crew checks for movement, damaged areas, adhesive residue, moisture and uneven sections. Click joints can fail over an uneven subfloor, and glue-down vinyl can show surface imperfections, so preparation matters.

  • Remove small furniture, electronics and breakable items.
  • Empty closets where the flooring will continue.
  • Confirm who will disconnect and move appliances before the work date.
  • Tell us about past leaks or moisture concerns during the estimate.

Choosing a Vinyl Plank Colour

Natural oak colours suit many GTA homes because they work with warm and cool finishes. Lighter planks can open up a basement or condo, while medium tones hide everyday dust and small marks. Dark planks create contrast but show light debris more easily. Look at the sample flat on the floor in both daylight and evening light.

  • Confirm whether the product requires acclimation. Not every vinyl collection follows the same rule.
  • Test concrete subfloors and use the moisture system required by the manufacturer.
  • Plan transitions where the vinyl meets tile, carpet or hardwood.
  • Do not assume waterproof flooring eliminates the need to address moisture below the floor.
  • Keep spare planks from the same production lot for future repairs.

Yes. The vinyl plank itself is waterproof. Water can still travel below the floor or affect walls and trim, so spills and leaks should be handled promptly.

Can vinyl plank be installed in a basement?

Many vinyl plank collections suit below-grade spaces. We still inspect the slab and follow the product’s moisture and installation requirements.
