Choosing the Correct Installation Method
Engineered hardwood may be nailed, stapled, glued or floated, depending on the product and subfloor. The manufacturer determines the approved methods. Our team checks the site and plans the installation system before work begins. Concrete slabs often require a glue-down or approved floating system with the specified moisture protection.
The $2.69 starting rate covers standard engineered hardwood installation. Glue-down work, adhesive, floor preparation, removal, stairs, patterns, trim and repairs may increase the price.
Preparing the Home and Subfloor
We can remove the existing flooring and expose the surface for inspection. The subfloor needs to be dry, flat, clean and structurally sound. Wood subfloors may need loose panels secured. Concrete may require moisture testing, grinding or levelling. We discuss required work before the new hardwood is installed.
- Move small items and fragile belongings out of the rooms.
- Keep heating and cooling operating under normal living conditions.
- Follow the collection’s acclimation instructions before installation.
- Confirm appliance, furniture and baseboard arrangements before installation day.
Choosing an Engineered Hardwood Colour
Natural white oak, warm brown and neutral greige finishes remain flexible choices because they coordinate with many cabinets and paint colours. Wide planks show more grain and can make an open room feel calm. Character grades show knots and colour variation; cleaner grades create a more uniform finish.

Engineered Hardwood Installation Tips
- Choose the product before confirming the method because not every plank supports every installation system.
- Check the wear-layer thickness if future refinishing matters to you.
- Maintain the indoor humidity range stated by the manufacturer through Ontario’s seasons.
- Ask whether the collection is approved for the floor level, concrete slab or radiant heating system in your home.
- Keep a spare carton from the same lot for future repairs.
