Record whether the substrate is concrete, plywood or another assembly and describe the current floor. Share any previous movement, unevenness or moisture concerns with the installer. A product can look suitable while still requiring preparation or a different installation method for the underlying surface.
Document any in-floor heating
If the project includes radiant heat, collect the system details and the instructions for the exact flooring being considered. Compatibility belongs to the specific product and assembly. Ask the installer to confirm the approved method, operating conditions and any adhesive or underlay requirements; do not assume that every wood, vinyl or tile product is interchangeable.
Resolve the assembly before setting quantities
Once the permitted system is established, compare finished heights at doors and stairs and confirm required preparation. Keep the product specifications with the installation quote so supply and installation refer to the same collection.
